Buffalo Central Terminal (2007)
About this photo

Location: 495 Paderewski Drive, Buffalo, NY

A beautiful train station in East Buffalo that closed as a station in 1979. The building is currently owned by a non-profit organization that has been busy with restoration work. The future of the building is still unknown, but during the summer a number of events are held inside, including Buffalo Brewfest and various art shows. Apparently, it's even occasionally used for weddings.

I was wandering around the building on Saturday, taking pictures of the exterior when one of the volunteers invited me inside. Since I wasn't expecting to gain access, I was without a tripod. I think I shot this handheld at 1/30th.

The main hall is huge, maybe 2/3rds the size of Grand Central's. I plan to go back again with a tripod and my new 24mm lens, which is now my widest. It's really big inside.
